Blue elderberry establishes very easily and is fast growing. The fruit and flowers produced by this plant can be used for cooking and the fruit are enjoyed by wildlife such as deer and birds while providing habitat to small animals. You can use blue elderberry to prevent erosion and stabilize streambanks. This plant is often found in forested riparian areas and can be successful in open forests, woodlands, and riparian areas.
