Evergreen Huckleberry (Vaccinium ovatum) is a small- to medium-sized evergreen shrub that prefers full to partial shade. It grows slowly and prefers acidic soil. In mid-summer, the plant produces round, small, edible black berries. The berries are a valuable traditional food for many indigenous cultures in the Pacific Northwest.
